Join your FSR friends for our August Fun Run on Saturday, 15 August 2020 from Chicahominy Riverfront Park to Upper Shirley Vineyards. Registrations starts at 10 AM. Back by popular demand; we will have a Vintage Group for this event.
This Fun Run has the same start location (Chickahominy Riverfront Park) and the same ending (Upper Shirley Vineyard, 600 Shirley Plantation road, Charles City, VA 23030) as the recent July run, but this event has a different route. After the drivers' meetings, we'll head out in 10-minute intervals.
The route for this event is mostly in Charles City County and includes several new twisty roads Ed has found. The run is about 62 miles and takes about 90 minutes. There are NO breaks planned. We’re looking forward to seeing you and your wonderful Porsche!
Registration will open at 10:00AM at a pavilion near VA 5 in the Chickahominy Riverfront Park, 1350 John Tyler Highway, Williamsburg, VA 23185. Registration will include two waivers. One is the usual PCA event waiver. The second is the PCA Communicable Disease Exposure (CDE) waiver described below. The CDE Waiver is good until May 2021, so if you have already submitted one at a previous event, you don’t need to re-submit. It’s actually less effort for us (we have to track them) if you only submit once.
The ending at Upper Shirley Vineyard has “picnic” style meals and wine. While there is some limited indoor seating, most seating will be on either the front or the back porches plus umbrella covered picnic seating on the lawn facing the James River. Suggest you bring blankets and lawn chairs. Weather permitting; we will park together on the grass near the building.
We really want to continue to drive our cars on some wonderful Virginia twisty roads; however, we're also aware that we have a largely older membership. Thus, we have taken steps at both the event start and end to systematically reduce the risk of virus infection. These changes are especially evident at registration and are designed to reduce congregating and encourage sanitation.
After much work and several reviews, the FSR Board of Directors directed the following Safety Ground rules. PLEASE READ and comply with them so we can have a fun event with low infection risk to yourself and others.
If you have yet to submit the CDE Waiver at a previous event, please print, sign and bring one with you (every participant must have one). It’s accessible at the link below. Again, this is good until next May, so once we have yours on file, there's no need to resubmit until May 2021. We'll collect new ones at registration or check your name off the CDE roster.

ON-SITE REGISTRATION STEPS:
1. Each participant will be required to wear a mask outside their car. Registration should be under a pavilion in the park. Please wait in your car until a registration slot is empty. We will begin registration by wiping their hands with hand sanitizer first, then disposing the used wipe in a nearby trash can. (This results in only sanitized hands touching the waiver forms).
2. You'll be asked if we can take your body temperature. Next each participant will place in a box the dated and signed PCA Communicable Disease Waiver (CDE). Blank CDE waivers will be available for those needing them. We will have a package of inexpensive pens in case some people forget to bring their own. The participants will keep the pen they used.
3. Each participant then will sign the usual PCA event insurance waiver form.
4. Each car will be provided a numbered packet from a box, table, or other distribution method to minimize contact. The packet will include a cover letter, identification of your group lead, route instructions, maps, and an end point description. The packet will also have wrist bands for entrants. (you will put on your own wrist band)
5. The packet number will identify which run group each participant is in (e.g. #2-3 is the third car in group 2).Vintage cars will be separately identified.
6. Each participant will return to their car. They may be asked to move their cars to be closer to their run group leader, while maintaining social distancing.
7. Each run group leader will then hold a separate drivers’ meeting for their run group, keeping their group sizes small. After the Group-level Drivers’ Meeting, the group then may leave on the route.
8. We will space the run groups out a bit more than previous fun runs to support social distancing. Groups will leave in 10-15 minute intervals to reduce bunching up.
9. At the end of the Fun Run, please do not congregate in ways that violate the CDC recommended sizes and social distancing guidelines.
10. With all the guidelines and administration stuff behind us, have a good time safely driving your Porsche!
We hope to see you there!
