In lieu of our normal Southside monthly breakfast at Pop's Diner on Saturday, 9 March, we'll be meeting at Checkered Flag Porsche (2865 Va. Beach Blvd in VB) at 9AM for breakfast and a Tech Session, conducted by Joe Finkle, the dealership's lead technician and FSR's Tech Chair. Joe is a Certified Gold Meister and Classic Porsche Technician.
Joe will covering the chemical makeup of brake fluid, the different types of brake fluids, their dry and wet boiling points, testing boiling points of samples with an OTC 3890 Brake Fluid Safety Meter, and briefly touching on brake bleeding procedures. He’ll then move on to brake pads and cover the composite makeup of a pad, pad composite types, heat ranges of a pad and how to determine the heat range by using the stampings on the backing plate, and what pad works best for various driving situations. Then he’ll finish off with rotor material makeup and design, and what rotor works best for various driving situations. We will also have time at the end for some Q&A.
