Alpine Mountain Region PCA Scenic Tour to Great Sand Dunes National Park

Join the Alpine Mountain Region for a scenic summer drive to one of Colorado’s most iconic destinations — Great Sand Dunes National Park. We’ll head south from Colorado Springs on a beautiful drive through the mountains and San Luis Valley, stop for lunch at Sand Dunes Recreation, and then continue on to the dunes for the afternoon.
This tour is designed to be a fun summer day with fellow PCA members, combining a scenic drive, group lunch, and plenty of time to enjoy the park and surrounding area.
Registration Cost
$60 per person
Already have an America the Beautiful or other valid National Park Pass?

Registration includes:
- Lunch at Sand Dunes Recreation
- Admission to Great Sand Dunes National Park
- Tour registration / event costs
Tour Schedule
- 7:30–7:45 AM – Meet at Porsche Colorado Springs
- 8:00 AM – Driver's Meeting
- 8:20 AM – First group departs
- 8:30 AM – Second group departs
- 10:30 AM – Shell stop for fuel/restroom break (20 minutes)
- 10:50 AM – Depart Shell
- 12:00 PM – Lunch at Sand Dunes Recreation
- 1:00 PM – Depart for Great Sand Dunes National Park
- 1:30–1:45 PM – Arrive at Great Sand Dunes National Park / board rental area
- Afternoon free to explore the dunes, rent sandboards or sleds, hike to Zapata Falls, or return to Sand Dunes Recreation to enjoy the discounted soaking admission.
Lunch at Sand Dunes Recreation
We will stop at Sand Dunes Recreation for lunch prior to heading into the park. To keep lunch service smooth for the group, attendees will select their lunch entrée during registration. Final counts will be provided to the venue in advance, and meal selections will be coordinated onsite using a color-coded wristband system.

Great Sand Dunes National Park
Great Sand Dunes National Park is home to the tallest sand dunes in North America, set against the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Whether you want to walk out onto the dunes, take photos, cool off in the creek if conditions allow, or simply enjoy the scenery, it is one of Colorado’s most memorable destinations.
Once we arrive at the dunes, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace.
Optional Activities in the Area
There are several great options for anyone wanting to make the most of the day:
- Sandboard and sand sled rentals are available nearby for those who want to experience the dunes a little differently.
- Zapata Falls is a beautiful nearby hike and a great option if you’d like to spend more time exploring the area.
- Sand Dunes Recreation also offers discounted admission for anyone who would like to return after the park and enjoy the property.
What to Bring
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Water, sunscreen, and sun protection
- A full tank of gas before departure
- Camera/phone for photos
- Any personal items you’d like for time at the dunes
